In this, fifth annual, installment of the Future of Retail, PSFK Labs selects creative agencies and design firms from around the world to develop and illustrate their vision of the future. Co:Collective was asked to envision what the future of pharmacy could be with CVS.

This concept puts the CVS commitment to “wellness” front in center in their service offering. Now pharmacy retail environments act much like other inventory driven businesses. Maximize linear shelf space and maximize retail opportunities, logical. But after CVS stopped selling tobacco products, as they are surely not connected a wellness, CVS has the opportunity to drive loyalty and staff interactions to promote a healthy life. Here the story plan changes from self guided product shopping and is replaced with a concierge interaction with staff. This new relationship model extended the digital space with activity based rewards programs, awarding discounts and special offers based on healthy behaviors, and mail-order everyday products. Through partnership CVS can also be the hug for connecting medical care with inshore tele-medicine and at-home visits.

This concept work is an example of how a purpose driven company can live their commitment to an idea and innovate to meet a changing time.
