Our education system is complex and often opaque, but this is where my background in human-centered design makes a difference. For over 10 years, I have worked with organizations and communities to identify problems, gather insights, and deliver solutions that create real impact. As a systems thinker and communication designer, I specialize in navigating complexity and connecting big-picture strategy to on-the-ground realities.
At PS 261, this approach helped me lead the School Leadership Team through challenging moments to deliver solutions, including establishing a targeted tutoring program and supporting our class size reduction plan. I am ready to apply these skills at the district level to help District 15 navigate challenges and create lasting, positive change.
Academically, we need culturally responsive learning at every grade level. We should better equip our teachers with strategies to get the most out of assessment data to improve classroom outcomes. Administrators who lead with vision and courage need strong community backing. We must hold our Superintendent and Chancellor accountable to our shared values, and ensure every student has the opportunity to grow to their full potential.
The Community Education Council’s most important role is to surface and amplify the voices of all families in District 15. This means connecting with school communities and School Leadership Teams to learn from their successes and challenges, and speaking directly with Department of Education representatives to push for clarity, action, and accountability. The Council must push for our collective values, protect what we have in District 15, and innovate to build what we need for the future.
I am running to keep District 15’s legacy of progressive educational practices alive. We need committed and motivated parents to ensure D15 continues providing standout educational experiences for all students. With our community at risk, we must push politicians and long-time education officials to protect our friends, neighbors, and children. We must defend and celebrate our trans students, give immigrant families the dignity and safety they deserve, and resist revisionist efforts that threaten equity and representation.
I am committed to centering kids’ experiences, improving educational outcomes for all children, representing the families in our dynamic and diverse community, and being a strong advocate. Respect and equality must guide every action the council takes.
